Masseria Spina Resort is a monumental fortified complex spanning nearly a thousand years of history, set among seven hectares of ancient olive groves on the coast near Monopoli. Originally owned by the noble Meo Evoli family, the property comprises six distinct historic residences — each with its own character, from 15th-century barrel-vaulted lamias to an apartment that served as a WWII bomb shelter — sleeping up to 30 guests in total. Weddings here move from a citrus grove ceremony with Adriatic views to aperitivi by the pool and candlelit dinners beneath centuries-old trees. The in-house team orchestrates everything from traditional Puglian catering to cooking classes and wine experiences, creating a celebration that feels authentically southern Italian.

Masseria Spina Resort — wedding venue in Monopoli, Puglia
Masseria Spina is a fortified agricultural complex whose oldest sections date to the 11th century, with major expansions in the 15th, 17th, and 18th centuries. Originally the estate of the Meo Evoli family and later the Ammazalorsa family, the masseria served as both a grand rural residence and a working farm. During World War II, parts of the complex — including what is now the apartment 'Il Nido' — were used as bomb shelters.
The restoration of Masseria Spina honoured the layers of history embedded in its tufo stone walls, preserving period antiques, a 17th-century copper bath, and original barrel vaults while adding the comforts of a modern boutique resort. Today it holds a 9.1 rating on Booking.com and Guests' Choice status — a testament to the warmth and authenticity that define every stay.
